Welcome to the Department of Mathematics at Sundarban Mahavidyalaya.
The Department of Mathematics came into being in 1995. Thirty years down the line, it has had much to feel happy about. It has had a faculty committed to the cause of excellence and also students—scores of them—who have brought glory to it by their brilliant academic performance. During the period 2013-2021 alone, several 1st classes apart, 3 students of the Dept. stood within 1st 10 students in the 1st class in Calcutta University exams.

Our Vision

The vision of our department is to Empower students to become critically acute, intellectually able, virtuous in ethical conduct and alive to valid social causes so that they are able to contribute to the nation as responsible citizens and future leaders by fulfilling their academic potential. 

Our Mission

We seek to create an inclusive atmosphere that enables our financially weak students to access educational opportunities as well as facilities like ICT-based learning and other associated conveniences and ensure that every deserving student receives equal treatment, as much as possible.

• Names of Programmes / Courses offered: B.Sc Mathematics Honours and General (under CBCS) and Mathematics Major and MDC (under CCF).
• Participation of the department in the courses offered by other departments: Participation in teaching Mathematics (General subject) with B.Sc. Honours courses in Physics, Chemistry, Economics and B.Com.
• Student -Teacher Ratio (programme wise): 15:1
