The Department of Bengali was established in 1965 and Bengali has been taught since the very beginning. Now, We provide the candidates with courses like Honours & pass. We can proudly say that our Department is the largest amongst the others having almost three thousand students of all the three academic sessions of honours and pass. The history of execellence has been carried out by the teaching of the Full-Time Prof. Rajlakshmi Mukherjee, Sukumar Bandyopadhyay, Chandrabali Dutta and Part time and Contractual Teachers.
Now We have Dr. Subir Kumar Sen , Dr. Sk Mueedul Islam (HOD) & Tapan Kumar Biswas. Having a low teacher-student ratio, we have requested Professors from Purushkanpur College, Howra and Amdanga College, North 24 Parganas and also two Invitee Mrs. Mosahida Khatun & Mrs. Premantika Roy Who have taken part in both the online & offline Teaching.
Many of our pass outs are now working as Professor, school teachers and journalist, some of them are working many government and non-government sectors. We are very proud of them and we discuss the welfare of the department.
We keep frequent contact with the guardians. We publish wall-magazine and printed magazines yearly. We also celebrate "Basanta Utsav", "Sarodothsav" and "Rabindrajoyonti" for the all over development of our students.

# We organize 'Sahitya Adday Tumi Ami', 'Students Seminar', Quiz etc. for the knowledge of students.
# Mentoring students both academically and other than academic activities.
# Guiding students in writing project work and seminar presentations.
#Arranging workshops at regular interval.
# Special one-to-one interaction with the students.
# Encouraging students to participate in different activities for their holistic development.

Our alumni is Very strong. We try our best for their higher education. Even we conduct classes for NET, SET preparation. Many of our pass outs are now working as Professor, school teachers and journalist, some of them are working many government and non-government sectors. We are very proud of them and we discuss the welfare of the department.
